A new beginning for Toronto FC

In case you haven’t been watching Twitter explode over the last hour, a heads up: it appears that at midday today, Toronto FC will fire general manager Mo Johnston and head coach Preki.

Assistant head coach Nick Dasovic is expected to take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season (making that five head coaches in less than four full seasons, if you’re counting).

As for the new GM? Anyone’s guess at this point. But since MLSE is trending towards general managers named Brian or Bryan, I’m gonna say… Brian McBride? (Hey, he does have a tenuous Toronto connection).

Official team press conference scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET, though Paul Attfield has already broken the story in the Globe & Mail.

More “analysis” will follow, of course.

  1. Party at my house!

  2. Will there be MO drinking at your party than usual? If that’s the case then I’ll need MO MOney for MO booze. But I guess, what MO could we ask for?
