The European managerial carousel

Seeing Roy Hodgson in charge of Liverpool today provided a stark reminder of the carousel nature of the head coach/manager position in professional sports. To wit:

In 2008, Jose Mourinho, forced out at Chelsea, moved to Inter Milan… he replaced Roberto Mancini, who moved to Manchester City… he replaced Mark Hughes, who moved to Fulham… he replaced Roy Hodgson, who moved to Liverpool… he replaced Rafa Benitez, who moved to Inter Milan to replace… Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho’s eventual replacement at Real Madrid? Probably Kevin Bacon.
