Wow: U.S. Soccer Exercises Common Sense

Ooh! A national soccer association that gives a shit about more than how many tickets it can sell when scheduling World Cup qualifying matches…

Soccer America’s Ridge Mahoney provides some insight into U.S. soccer’s decision to schedule the all-important Mexico match in Columbus as opposed to a bigger stadium in a bigger city where several thousand more Mexican supporters would undoubtedly buy tickets.

Sounds like they even organized a private sale to ensure majority U.S. support. This sounds dangerously logical.

  1. Fine, but how do they propose to handle Mexico’s voodoo campaign against U.S. soccer?

  2. I say we play all our future qualifying games in Saskatoon.

  3. They’ve been doing this for a few years now. Avoiding LA and New York and playing in Columbus, and Minneapolis I think.
