Hysterical soccer commentators

Here at canadiansoccerblog.ca we enjoy laughing hysterically, but we enjoy laughing hysterically at hysterical soccer commentators even more.

Besides, this is why soccer the greatest game in the world: its power to make a grown man squeal like an eight-year-old girl.

We intend to eventually transform this post into its own page, in which we invite readers to send us their video picks of the most hysterical soccer commentary from around the world. Here’s a couple to get started.

The Greek commentator calling the Euro 2004 final. Greece holds on to win the Euro Cup against incredible odds.

Middlesbrough FC at home in the second leg of the UEFA Cup semi-final during their astonishing run in this competition in the spring of 2006.

Steaua Bucharest was already up 1-0 from the first leg, and took the early lead in this game. That left Middlesbrough needing four goals to go through. And oh, they got them.

Fast forward to the 1:55 mark of this video to hear the announcer completely lose the run of himself.

“They say lightning never strikes twice, but by God it has here tonight!”

  1. The actual “goooal” part is nothing special, but the incomprehensible Turkish yelling (which sounds like it could be a song) makes this one worth the price of admission.

    Plus the goal itself is awesome.
