DeRo to TFC!

Believe it or not, hometown boy Dwayne DeRosario is now a member of the Toronto FC. The squad picked up the Canadian star earlier today in a trade with Houston that sent defender Julius James and cash the other way.

Sure, DeRo’s going to turn 31 this season and his best days may be behind him… but he can still light things up in the MLS. And, not that the team needs help selling tickets (16,000 season packages sold for next season) or selling jerseys (new design released a week ago), but this move will raise the team’s profile even more in this city and — more importantly — will help raise the profile of Canadian soccer in general. Plus we get to watch DeRo’s ridiculous chicken dance more often.

Unless Julius James turns out to be the next Roberto Carlos or something, I’d say this is a good move all around.
